Mobile Pay Apps Allowed for Paying Duties on Personal Luggage and Postal Articles

Recently, when clearing customs at West Kowloon Railway Station, Ms. Cao, a passenger returning from Hong Kong SAR, paid duties by mobile AliPay app for her handbag newly bought in Hong Kong, and the whole process finished just within 10 seconds.

The inbound passenger pays her duties by a mobile app.

As per the GACC’s deployment, Shenzhen Customs District has upgraded the payment mode of import duties on personal luggage and postal articles. Besides paying by POS terminal or bank counter, an inbound passenger can pay the duties by using mobile applications such as WeChat, AliPay and UnionPay, all of which are superior in safety and speediness, as well as identical in procedure.
